Earlier in the season, one of the major concerns for the Barcelona team was the lack of a reliable replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

The Pole had been scoring goals for fun, but Barça feared that there was no one there to replace him in the No. 9 spot.

However, fast forward to the present day and it appears Barcelona may have found an ideal short-term alternative to Lewandowski in the form of Ferran Torres.

With 13 goals in all competitions, Ferran is currently one of the most productive players at Barcelona this season, despite his limited game-time.

Ferran has been averaging a goal every 87 minutes, which is quite impressive and speaks volumes about his improved efficiency in front of goal.

Barcelona rule out striker signing

In light of Lewandowski’s continued goalscoring momentum, coupled with Ferran stepping up his performances, Barcelona do not consider it absolutely necessary to sign a new striker in the summer, reports SPORT.

It appears the Catalans are willing to hold off their pursuit of a new number nine for now, despite being linked with moves for a series of top players across Europe.

The likes of Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres have been linked with a move to Catalonia, as a potential long-term replacement for Lewandowski.

This could ultimately prove to be a wise move by Barcelona, knowing the club are likely to get priced out of a move for almost each of their current targets.

Therefore, preserving some capital by waiting out another year could be the right strategy, as that means Barcelona can launch a more constructive effort to sign a new striker in 2026.
