Barcelona not guaranteed to enter the summer market with the 1:1 Fair Play rule – report | OneFootball

Last month, following the execution of the sales of the future Spotify Camp Nou VIP boxes to companies from the Middle East, Barcelona returned to the 1:1 Financial Fair Play rule.

It meant that the Blaugrana could now spend every euro they earned through player sales or salary savings on new signings without any restrictions.

It was celebrated as a huge achievement, considering that the club have had to deal with FFP issues for a long while now. It even gave hope for some potentially major signings for the summer transfer window.

1:1 rule not guaranteed

However, according to Marta Ramon on RAC1, it is not guaranteed that Barcelona would be able to operate with the 1:1 Fair Play rule in the summer transfer window.

This is because there are doubts about the club’s operation to sell the VIP box seats to the company Emirates New Era Visionary Group.

Indeed, reports earlier this week suggested that La Liga were sceptical about the deal as the group happens to be the telecommunications partner of Barcelona since November 2024.

Now, it could potentially weigh down on the Catalans as it might affect their chances of going into the summer market with the 1:1 rule.

Barça did see a rise in their salary cap after the winter window, with the limit growing from €426 million last September to €463.6 million now. However, the increase was not very significant as the losses from the Barça Vision deal still weigh on it.

So, it appears that Barcelona’s return to the 1:1 Fair Play rule might be in jeopardy heading into the summer window.
