Frenkie de Jong’s future at Barcelona is uncertain as he approaches the final year of his contract. However, the Spanish club wants to keep the midfielder, but only on their terms.
Last October, SPORT reported that several top clubs—Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain—have been closely monitoring De Jong’s situation.
De Jong has expressed his desire to stay at Barcelona, but PSG’s history of signing players from the club makes them a serious contender. Barcelona, however, seem open to letting him go, with Mundo Deportivo reporting that a new deal isn’t a priority due to financial constraints.
More recently, CaughtOffside revealed that Liverpool have discussed their summer transfer targets internally, with De Jong among the names on the list. However, his wages could pose a challenge.
Barcelona are reportedly willing to sell him for around €35 million, but his high salary at the Nou Camp has been a sticking point for Liverpool and other clubs in the past.

Journalist Ferran Correas reports Barcelona have offered De Jong a new contract, extending it for another three years at the same salary. Nonetheless, the deal does not include his deferred wages.
Fichajes reports that Arsenal are aiming to strengthen their midfield with a big signing and have set their sights on Frenkie de Jong.
The Gunners are willing to offer €75 million to secure the Dutch midfielder in the upcoming transfer window—a fee that could catch the attention of FC Barcelona, who are working to stabilize their finances and bring in new signings. De Jong’s future at Barcelona has been a constant topic of speculation in recent years.
His contract situation has raised questions, and while a departure once seemed likely, the arrival of Hansi Flick has shifted the narrative. The German coach has made De Jong a key part of his system, improving his chances of staying at the club.
