Barcelona star Pedri has on Saturday spoken out on the claims that he and some of his Spanish teammates were giving serious consideration to sitting out the country’s upcoming fixtures over the months ahead.

For those who may have missed it, the plans of Barcelona’s Spanish contingent took their place front and centre in the media chatter across the country earlier this week.

As much came after it was reported that Pedri, Ferran Torres, Lamine Yamal and co. were all ready to boycott national team duty with La Roja.

This would have come in the case of Dani Olmo’s registration problems at club level carrying over onto the international stage.

Midfielder Olmo has of course since been registered by Barcelona, making the prior media chatter largely irrelevant.

But, as alluded to above, Pedri was nevertheless keen to make clear the fact that no such stance was in fact being taken into consideration by he and his teammates.

Speaking during a press conference ahead of Barcelona’s Spanish Super Cup showdown with arch rivals Real Madrid on Sunday, the youngster assured:

“It was said that the Spanish players would not go to the national team if Dani Olmo could not play, but it is a lie that I hope no one believes because I love playing with the national team.”
