Barcelona delivered an exciting performance in Belgrade, beating Crvena Zvezda 5-2 in the UEFA Champions League. This victory not only puts them closer to securing a spot in the knockout rounds but also boosts the club’s financial situation.
Given the economic challenges Barcelona has faced, the Champions League income has become increasingly significant this season.
With UEFA’s newly structured Champions League format, which includes a fresh approach to distributing funds among the 36 participating teams, the Catalan club stands to earn much-needed revenue.

According to SPORT, Barcelona have already secured close to €25 million in prize money. This amount includes €18.62 million just for participating in the competition and an additional €6.3 million for their three victories.
UEFA awards €2.1 million for each match win, so Barcelona’s unbeaten streak has proven financially beneficial. A draw, in comparison, only earns each team €700,000.
The new league-style format for the Champions League’s first phase means that the top eight teams in the standings will receive an extra €2 million as a reward.
For those finishing between ninth and sixteenth, UEFA awards €1 million. Beyond these placements, there is an additional financial incentive based on the final standings within the league table.

This reward pool is divided into 666 equal portions, with the lowest-ranked team receiving €275,000. The earnings increase progressively, reaching €9.9 million for the highest-ranked team.
Any ties within this phase will add to the ranking-based prize pot. When two teams draw, each receives €700,000, and an additional €700,000 goes toward increasing the bonus pool.
With four games left in this phase, Barcelona can continue to improve their financial position with more wins.
Given the financial strains of recent years, these Champions League earnings represent crucial support for the club as they undergo both the sporting and financial challenges of the season.
