Bayer Leverkusen will look to close the gap to Bayern Munich to three points when they host Bochum in the Bundesliga on Friday night. Xabi Alonso will be without defensive trio Edmond Tapsoba, Jeanuel Belocian and Mario Hermoso, and despite arriving back late from Ecuador’s game against Chile, Piero Hincapié is likely to start with few other options.
In attack, Florian Wirtz (Ankle), Martin Terrier (Achilles) and Nathan Tella (Muscular) are all absent, which could see Exequiel Palacios start alongside Amine Adli. The biggest question mark heading into this game is who starts up top for Leverkusen?
Patrik Schick scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time against Stuttgart prior to the international break to keep Bayer’s hopes of retaining the Bundesliga title alive. The Czech forward has scored three in his last four Bundesliga games and appears to be Alonso’s favoured option at the moment, but the Spaniard often rotates between Schick and Victor Boniface.
Upon receiving their next yellow card, Nordi Mukiele and Schick will serve a one game suspension for accumulating five yellow cards.
Lukas Hradecky – Nordi Mukiele, Jonathan Tah, Piero Hincapié – Jeremie Frimpong, Robert Andrich, Granit Xhaka, Alex Grimaldo – Exequiel Palacios, Amine Adli – Patrik Schick
