Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany is sweating on the fitness of Manuel Neuer, with the goalkeeper at risk of missing their Champions League clash against Inter Milan.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of German outlet Bild, and as reported by FCInterNews.it, the veteran custodian is expected to be out for Bayern’s next four matches after suffering a calf injury on Friday, including the first leg of their quarter-final tie against Inter on 8 April.
The former Schalke 04 star had only just worked his way back to fitness after being forced off in Bayern’s victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the previous round, and this set back could see him miss the matches against Inter entirely.
Kompany remains hopeful that Neuer will recover in time to take on the Nerazzurri in the second leg at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on 16 April.
Neuer has been ruled out of Bundesliga clashes against St. Pauli, Augsburg, and rivals Borussia Dortmund, in addition to the first leg against Inter at the Allianz Arena.
