Ben Jacobs has news that will delight Chelsea fans as Blues lead rivals for rising striker

Chelsea needed a striker before Nicolas Jackson got injured. With the Senegal star out, now they REALLY need a striker.
The last three years have seen countless big names linked to the Blues, but only Jackson has actually made the switch.
It feels like a matter of time before the investment comes however, especially given how much this recent injury has shown up how weak we are in that department. Even before that, Jackson’s poor form in front of goal made it clear that not adding to that department in the summer or at least in January was a huge mistake.
Ben Jacobs has positive news on that front though – while Manchester United and Arsenal are keen, Chelsea are favourites to sign Ipswich striker Liam Delap. It’s going to be an expensive deal, but surely those upstairs now realise they’ll have to pull the trigger at some point. We can’t limp into a third season in a row short up top.

In quotes that came out this morning, Jacobs made it clear that he thought Chelsea were the real front runners ahead of Man U:
“I think at this stage, Chelsea are front-runners for Liam Delap, and the expectation is that whether Ipswich go down or stay up, he will likely leave this summer. And it seems pretty clear right now, unless Alexander Isak and a Newcastle exit influences the situation, that Arsenal feel most optimistic about Benjamin Sesko,” Jacobs said to GiveMeSport.
“Chelsea are optimistic about Liam Delap, but also have Sekso on their list. And Manchester United have looked at both of those players, but could well miss out on each of them.”
With Southampton to come later this evening, let’s hope this isn’t one of those days we’re left rueing the fact we didn’t pay what was necessary to get Delap last month.
