Blackburn Rovers are aiming to secure a first top-six finish in the Championship since their 2012 relegation from the Premier League.

The Lancashire outfit lost manager John Eustace in February, replacing him with Valerien Ismael.

While a play-off place isn’t guaranteed, Ismael will likely want this summer to be busy at Ewood Park in order to shape the squad to his liking.

This could lead to several departures in order to make room for new additions to come in and shake up the first team.

When asked which player could leave the club this summer and if they’d be missed, FLW’s Blackburn fan pundit Simon Middlehurst named Callum Brittain.

He believes the defender’s impressive performances this season could attract transfer interest at the end of the campaign.

“I could see Callum Brittain possibly leaving due to the fact that he’s been our most consistent player and there’s been a few teams already sniffing around him,” Middlehurst told Football League World.

“So it wouldn’t surprise me if he leaves this summer.

“He would be badly missed, he’s been such a consistent player for us, both defensively and in attack.

“He’s come up with a few assists this season, so I think he would be one player that’s most likely to leave, and I think he would be missed.”

Tyrhys Dolan wouldn’t be missed if sold

Middlehurst also named Tyrhys Dolan as a potential departure, suggesting he wouldn’t be missed if he left at the end of the season when his contract expires.

“Another player I think will most likely leave, it’s the fact he’s out of contract in the summer, would be Tyrhys Dolan,” he added.

“He is out of contract, and I could see him being reunited with John Eustace because John Eustace knows how to work with him and get the best out of him.

“Will he be missed? Absolutely not.

“I think he’s very inconsistent with how he is; sometimes he’s brilliant and sometimes he’s not.

“I think he’s definitely a player that won’t be missed.”

Valerien Ismael will be keen to keep Callum Brittain

Brittain has been a quality addition to this Blackburn squad since his arrival from Barnsley in 2022.

The full-back has had a strong campaign, and his performances have been important to their top six push, so Ismael will surely be keen to see him stay.

But Dolan’s departure seems a lot likelier, with no official decision yet made on his expiring contract.
