Giovanni Sartori has been mentioned as a possible candidate for the sporting director role at AC Milan, but Bologna’s CEO has dismissed the stories.
It has been written about for some time that Milan will return to using a ‘traditional’ sports director, i.e. figure to be placed at the top of the sporting hierarchy, who discusses with the others takes responsibility for the choices, from the coach to the transfer window.
A few days ago, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Sartori – who currently holds the same position at Bologna – is the No.1 target for CEO Giorgio Furlani. This comes after talks became advanced with Fabio Paratici but then collapsed for various reasons.
During an event held yesterday at Palazzo d’Accursio, the Bologna CEO Claudio Fenucci spoke about the future not only of Sartori but also of Vincenzo Italiano, another name linked to Milan in recent weeks.
“The rumours about Sartori? I’ve known Giovanni for decades: I can only say that his seriousness, beyond the contracts, is beyond question,” he said (via MilanNews).
“We have already expressed our desire to continue the relationship with Italiano and his staff: for the results, but also for the way he has entered the players’ heads. I believe that in general there will be no problems for the future of the management structure.”
