Former Manchester United star Brandon Williams has pleaded guilty to a charge of dangerous driving.
The 24 year old broke through into the first team under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2019 and played 51 times for the senior team, scoring one goal.
He went on loan to Ipswich Town during last season but could only play 17 matches for the Tractor Boys.
He was released at the end of his contract last season and he has not yet found a new club.
Williams was charged with dangerous driving last year and was subsequently banned from operating a vehicle.
According to The Sun, in his recent court case, “Williams pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and driving without third party insurance following the high-speed crash.”
The defender was in the car with a female passenger who recorded him reaching “speeds of 99mph with a balloon in his mouth.”
He lost control of his Audi A3 before it collided with a Ford Fiesta.
The former United man originally denied driving dangerously and was taken to hospital after the incident.
He also attempted to blame another driver for the incident when talking with police officers after the crash.
The 24 year old will be sentenced on the 9th May at Chester Crown Court.
Andrew Madden, a senior crown prosecutor with CPS Mersey-Cheshire, stated, “Brandon Williams’ driving on that day clearly fell far below what would be expected of a competent and careful driver.”
“Expert analysis showed that he was driving at 99 mph four seconds before he hit the Ford Fiesta.”
“Witnesses said Williams kept speeding up and then breaking sharply” and that it was clear that he was not in control of the vehicle.
The incident is another sad turn in the career of the once promising young fullback.
