Carlos Augusto soaked up the limelight as Inter Milan’s standout performer in Sunday’s 2-0 Serie A victory at Atalanta.
Speaking to SportTV via FCInterNews, the 26-year-old offered his verdict on the game and explained his goal celebration.
With the match evenly-poised at 0-0 at the start of the second half, Augusto’s header shifted the momentum in Inter’s favor.
Subsequently, Lautaro Martinez scored a late goal to clear all doubts and seal Atalanta’s eighth consecutive loss against the Nerazzurri.
Meanwhile, the former Monza wingback added to his Serie A tally this season.
Indeed, he has netted three league goals this term despite mostly playing second fiddle to Federico Dimarco.
However, with the Italian star injured, Augusto had a chance to prove his worth to Simone Inzaghi.
And a ‘Man of the Match’ award was a perfect way to repay Inzaghi’s trust.
Augusto refused to hide his excitement for helping Inter halt a four-game winless league run away from home.
“I’m happy to have scored,” he said after the match. “I work hard for the team, and we played a great match.

“It wasn’t easy to play here against Atalanta, but I’m happy for the team because we secured a very important win for the league.”
Meanwhile, he also praised his teammates for a scintillating performance in Bergamo.
“We know how difficult it is to face them at home, but the team stayed very focused and showed a lot of confidence.
“The feeling after the goal was pure joy, especially seeing how the team celebrated together.
“We knew it was going to be a tough match. It was a great team performance.”
Finally, he explained his goal celebration.
“It was a celebration that a friend of mine used to do when he played in my hometown, so I did it for him.”
