As Manchester United fans are likely well aware by now, Alejandro Garnacho is being targeted by Napoli.

Whether or not a deal will actually come to fruition remains to be seen, but the youngster is no longer considered unsellable like he used to be amid INEOS’ attempts to stay within the division’s financial limitations.

Offloading a homegrown talent whose sale would generate pure profit may be the route they eventually opt to take – hence Kobbie Mainoo being eyed up by Chelsea after his contract talks hit a roadblock.

There have been endless reports coming out of Italy over the last week regarding the Serie A leaders’ interest in Garnacho. Some claim that a £38 million bid has been submitted, while others suggest the club are still sizing up a move as they prepare for the imminent exit of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain.

United’s No.17 – despite falling out of favour in recent weeks – has proven to be an impactful figure since 2024/2025 got underway. He’s notched seven goals and five assists in 29 appearances, more recently setting up Bruno Fernandes with a spectacular pass to open the scoring in last Sunday’s FA Cup triumph over Arsenal.

For the tie in North London, Garnacho, 21, was restored to the starting XI for the first time in six matches. His stellar showing has now likely given Ruben Amorim a selection headache as to who makes the line-up this evening out of the Argentine and his in-form counterpart Amad Diallo.

Sky Sports shared a ‘breaking news’ update this morning detailing the latest speculation surrounding Garnacho’s future, telling viewers: “He is Napoli’s first choice to replace Kvaratskhelia.

“The Georgia winger is expected to join PSG in this transfer window, and Napoli are scouring the market for a replacement. We have been reporting that United do not want to sell, and it is thought it would take a huge offer for them to even consider it.”
