Bruno Fernandes ‘not going anywhere’ as Amorim lays down Premier League challenge

Bruno Fernandes will not be leaving Manchester United in the summer transfer window, manager Ruben Amorim insists.
The Red Devils are set to offload a host of first-team players ahead of next season to ease their financial burden and keep in line with the Premier League‘s Profit and Sustainability Rules.
There appears to be no red lines when it comes to who United may sell, with the likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo, Marcus Rashford and Casemiro all linked with Old Trafford exits.
One player Amorim is refusing to let go, however, is Fernandes. The Portuguese playmaker continues to be the club’s star man in attack, providing 32 goal contributions in all competitions this term.
The 30-year-old has been at the centre of Man Utd’s recent resurgence, registering seven goals and three assists in his last seven matches. The club are unbeaten in their last four Premier League outings and advanced to the quarter-finals of the Europa League during that period.
That form has led to Fernandes being linked with a summer transfer to Real Madrid, but Amorim says that is “not going to happen” – asserting that he can help United win the Premier League title again.
Asked how Man Utd can convince their star player to remain while the club are in a rut, the manager responded: “That is the challenge. I want Bruno here.”
“We want to win the Premier League again, we want the best players with us. He’s still so young because he plays 55 games every season.
“Between assists and goals, he’s there for 30 at least. He’s the player we want here, he’s not going anywhere.
“We are in control of the situation. I feel that he’s really happy here. He understands what we want to do.
“He’s one more supporter of Manchester United, he really feels it. Sometimes the frustration that you and everybody sees, and says: ‘it’s not a good thing for the captain’ – it’s a sign that he wants it so bad.
“This is the kind of player we want. He’s not going anywhere – because I already told him.”
