Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen was reportedly a target for a prominent Bundesliga club during the January transfer window, according to a report from SPORT.

Despite being injured, it seems that Christensen caught the attention of several top European teams, but Barcelona was not keen on parting ways with him.

However, it is said that despite the interest in the Danish centre-back, the club remained firm and showed no intention of letting him go.

What’s the story?

The Bundesliga side had presented a transfer offer for the defender, aiming to make him a permanent addition to their squad. However, the financial terms did not meet Barcelona’s expectations.

The Catalan club had hoped to receive a sum close to €15 million, but the German club’s offer fell well short of that figure. As a result, Barcelona chose not to even pass on the proposal to Christensen, understanding his stance on the matter.

The 28-year-old has made it clear that he wants to continue his journey at Barcelona and see out his contract, which runs until 2026.

Christensen, who is currently recovering from a soleus injury in his right leg, is focused on regaining his full fitness and hopes to return to being a key part of the team’s defensive line.

Things may change

While Barcelona is not looking to sell him at this moment, the situation may change in the future.

From a financial perspective, the club might be more open to a transfer in the summer, as moving the Danish international would help reduce the wage bill.

Additionally, since Christensen arrived on a free transfer, any potential sale would be seen as a profit for the club.

For now, the defender is committed to the Blaugrana, aiming to return to full fitness and contribute to the team’s success in the coming seasons.
