Canada coach Jesse Marsch has confirmed that Inter Milan wingback Tajon Buchanan wants a loan move away during the January transfer window.

Speaking on the Footy Prime podcast, Marsch said that Buchanan wants more playing time over the second half of the season.

He also added that Inter are “working with” the 25-year-old to find a solution.

Wingback Buchanan has been far from a regular in the Inter lineup this season.

The Canadian international has had a few appearances here and there as a substitute.

And Buchanan did get one start. He was in the starting eleven against Udinese in the Coppa Italia last month.

However, it is clear that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi does not see Buchanan as a regular starter.

Buchanan only just returned from a serious injury during the autumn.

The 25-year-old, who had joined Inter from Club Brugge last January, suffered a tibia fracture in training with Canada at the Copa America last summer.

That injury kept Tajon Buchanan on the sidelines for several months.

Naturally, the fact that Buchanan has not managed to get much playing time has hardly been ideal for getting back to his best.

And the Inter wingback’s national team coach has confirmed that he is not happy with this situation as things stand.

“We spoke about four days ago,” Canada coach Marsch said of Buchanan.

“He wants to go out on loan, and Inter is going to work with him.”

The Canada coach explained that “He needs to play, get into the rhythm, and get to the best version of Tajon Buchanan.”

Reports have linked Buchanan with a few different clubs this month.

In Serie A, Roma and Torino reportedly see the Canadian as a target. Meanwhile, Dutch giants Ajax are reportedly also eyeing up a move.
