The winter transfer window passed with Alexander Isak staying at Newcastle United. While there wasn’t much talk of a move in January, reports suggest that clubs like PSG might make another push for him this summer.
A report from RMC Sport previously claimed that PSG was willing to offer Gonçalo Ramos, Randal Kolo Muani, and Marco Asensio in a swap deal to bring Isak to Paris.
Liverpool has also been linked to the Swedish striker. Sky Switzerland journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported that the club had already begun discussions with his representatives.
The Reds were reportedly preparing a significant bid for Isak, even willing to break from their usual transfer strategy to sign the 25-year-old.
Earlier reports suggested Newcastle had set Isak’s price at €180 million (£150 million), a figure that would make him Liverpool’s record signing, surpassing the £85 million they paid for Darwin Núñez in 2022.

Amid the rumors regarding Isak’s future, former England striker Michael Owen appeared on talkSPORT and cautioned Newcastle against selling Isak.
“From Newcastle’s point of view, they simply can’t let him go,” Owen said. “I mean, I hear what you’re saying about not balancing the books… But what? Like, then they can get £150 million for him and then go spend £100 or £120 million on, you know, three £30 million players or four £30 million players.
“You know, you prefer Isak. He’s the one who’s going to absolutely push you into that elite level. Just getting three or four decent players won’t do. You need special players.”
Recently, GIVE ME SPORT reported that Newcastle are preparing a new contract offer for Isak, which would nearly double his salary.
The Athletic reported that Isak is happy at Newcastle and believes he can achieve his goals with the club. However, he’s decided to hold off on contract extension talks until the summer.
Even with interest from Arsenal, Liverpool, PSG, and especially Barcelona, Isak is not currently focused on his future.
