Celtic look likely to try and sign a midfielder or two in the upcoming summer transfer window. That would make sense, considering the number of midfielders they have been linked with in recent weeks. It was clear from their performance against the Rangers that there was a need to strengthen in the middle of the park. Also, there has been speculation that Reo Hatate could be on his way out of Parkhead in the near future.
Of course, Hatate has been a key part of this Celtic team since arriving in the winter of 2022, while Ange Postecoglou was the manager of the Hoops and they were starting to find their stride under the Australian's watch. But in recent times, the Japanese midfielder has looked inconsistent and perhaps a change of scenery makes sense for him.
We have seen quite a few midfielders pop up in the Celtic rumour mill lately. Names like Wataru Endo, Kalidou Sidibe and Elvis Rexhbecaj come to mind.
Now, another name has been added to that list. As reported by The Scottish Sun, Noah Sadiki of Union SG is someone who would fit Celtic’s target profile but would come with a hefty transfer price. Lyon tried to sign him on a loan-to-buy deal for £5 million last summer and USG would want a lot more for him now.
Sadiki has been an ever-present in the middle of the park for Union SG this season. The 20-year-old has made 46 appearances, scoring twice and providing 5 assists.
Sadiki played for the Belgian youth national teams but has ended up representing DR Congo at the senior level. And it is easy to see why someone with his potential might potentially be on the radar of Celtic, who are always on the lookout for highly-rated youngsters who they can develop further at Parkhead.
That being said, it looks like it will take a significant transfer fee to sign Sadiki. Will Celtic make that kind of an offer this summer or is this another rumour that is headed nowhere of note?
