Jadon Sancho spoke after Chelsea’s win against Leicester and fans are likely to disagree with one of the points he made.

The Blues ground out a hard fought win against the Foxes, with Marc Cucurella scoring the only goal of the game to move Chelsea back into the top four.

It could have been a more comfortable afternoon had Cole Palmer not missed a first half penalty, the first of his senior career, but truth be told Leicester never really looked like scoring.

Sancho claims Chelsea do have experience

In a frustrating first half the Blues didn’t create many opportunities, with fans frustrated with the lack of attacking threat.

Chelsea were eventually able to break down Leicester’s back five and record back to back clean sheets, which should be a big confidence boost for the team.

Last season the Blues may well have lost a game like that, and there have been improvements against teams that sit deep.

One thing often levelled at Chelsea is a lack of experience, which John Terry believes is part of the reason for the squad’s struggles.

Fans are desperate for the powers that be to sign some top quality experienced players in the summer to improve the squad.

However, speaking after the game Sancho claimed that despite the common consensus Chelsea do actually have a lot of experience.

“We are a young team, but there’s a lot of experience in the team,” he told Chelsea’s official website.

“When people say we’re young, I kind of look at it as an excuse. Some guys have played over 100 games, so I feel we’re more than ready and more than capable.”

Sancho is currently on a difficult run of form and is yet to find the back of the net in 2025, and Chelsea will be hoping the England international gets back to his best form during the run-in.
