Fichajes has reported that they have made an offer of €55 million to sign Gregor Kobel from Borussia Dortmund in the summer. The 27-year-old has been in superb form and is one of the best goalkeepers in the world on recent form.

Robert Sanchez has not been performing that great of late, and hence the Blues are targeting a quality goalkeeper. Kobel is definitely a very good option. Dortmund might not be qualifying for the Champions League, and if the Blues qualify for the UCL, then that can be a tantalizing prospect for a player who is at the peak of his powers. The Bundesliga club should not have any issues with the €55 million offer that Chelsea are making.

Kobel has conceded 40 goals and kept five clean sheets in 29 matches in the Bundesliga 2024/2025 season. That means when he is in goal, his team concedes a goal every 65 minutes. Kobel’s per 90 minutes goals conceded stat is 1.38. In terms of raw goalkeeping, he has saved 71 of the 113 shots faced, meaning Gregor Kobel’s save percentage is 62.83%.

Chelsea’s reported €55 million move for Kobel feels like a risky play. There is no doubt he would be an upgrade over Robert Sánchez, but his struggles with the ball at his feet could be a poor fit for Enzo Maresca’s possession-heavy style.
