Chelsea don’t seem to really care what any ‘outsiders’ are saying about their decisions right now. But the issue is, these ‘outsiders’ are fans of the club.
They need fans as a club, they should probably be valuing and listening to what they say a little more rather than brushing it aside through briefing after briefing given to the press every single day right now.
I am of course talking about the Trevoh Chalobah situation, which has really angered the majority of the Chelsea fan base this week. The defender has returned early from a season long loan at Crystal Palace, with Chelsea using the recall option this week.
But it was the way he was treated that has angered Chelsea fans, and then they are calling him back with their tails between their legs.
And now, through and Athletic article, they are desperately trying to double down on their decisions and back the sporting directors who seem to have the keys to this club making all the big decisions.
Trevoh Chalobah in action against Manchester City in the FA Cup semi final.
The report says on Chelsea recalling Chalobah:
‘Many outsiders as a tacit admission of an embarrassing error of squad planning by Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, but that is not the way it is being perceived within the club hierarchy.
Haha. sure, OK. They aren’t going to admit they are wrong, are they? But these ‘outsiders’ are fans of the club and have been here for much longer than you have. Be careful in the language you are using.
The report also goes on to say that Chelsea believe loaning out Trevoh Chalobah in the summer was the right decision then and recalling him early is the right decision now, even if it invites criticism.
Clown season.
