Chelsea striker Christopher Nkunku (27) is expected to stay with the Blues and not pursue a deadline-day move, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein. The France international was touted with a move away from Stamford Bridge as he is playing second fiddle under the tutelage of Enzo Maresca, most of the time in the UEFA Conference League or the FA Cup. Nkunku only started three times in the Premier League this season.
Nkunku’s intention to leave has prompted Chelsea to set a €70m asking price on the former PSG striker. Bayern Munich and Manchester United were reportedly keen to offer Nkunku a way out of Chelsea but no such bid came the Blues’ way. The Athletic understands that, given Nkunku’s lack of regular football, Bayern Munich and Manchester United value Nkunku at around €48m. Manchester reportedly offered to sign Nkunku on loan for the remainder of the campaign, but neither Chelsea nor Nkunku wanted to.
Nkunku could see his playing time increase as Chelsea are in talks with AC Milan over a loan move for João Felix.
