Earlier this week a report from Corriere della Sera suggested that Claudio Echeverri could potentially join Lazio on loan for next season. You could see merit in the idea of Echeverri playing in Serie A next season. Especially if he wasn’t going to figure prominently for the Manchester City first-team next season. But now a new report indicates that Echeverri will be a part of Manchester City’s pre-season ahead of the 25/26 season. That will allow Echeverri an opportunity to impress Pep Guardiola ahead of next season.

Rob Dawson has reported for ESPN that Manchester City are set to wait until the summer before making a decision on Claudio Echeverri’s future. Furthermore, Dawson reports that Manchester City have received several enquiries over Echeverri’s availability for a loan move for next season. At this stage, there is no indication yet if Echeverri will go out on loan for next season.

Manchester City do face a busy summer. Their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup will likely see Claudio Echeverri get a chance to impress. He may also get an opportunity to play over the remainder of this season. But if Echeverri can impress during the little pre-season work Manchester City do have he may play his way into Pep Guardiola’s squad for next season. He plays in a position where Manchester City are in desperate for reinforcements. If he can seize the opportunity that appears to be on offer then Echeverri may not leave Manchester City on loan next season.
