AC Milan are in the middle of a very tight schedule and as a result, Sergio Conceicao is looking to rest players when he can. However, as highlighted by Calciomercat.com, Tijjani Reijnders remains the most difficult one to decide on.

The Dutchman, having become a whole lot more clinical in front of goal, has been very important this season with his eleven goals in all competitions. The player himself admitted that the improvements have been significant, with a renewal on the cards as well.

Against Empoli this evening, however, the former AZ Alkmaar man could finally get some rest. With the addition of Joao Felix and the switch to a 4-4-2 formation, Conceicao might finally have identified the perfect time to give Reijnders some rest, as Calciomercato.com highlights.

This season, Reijnders has started every single game in the league aside from the opener against Torino and the game against Napoli, when he was suspended. Conceicao knows his importance all too well, in other words, but overworking a player is not ideal either.

A similar discussion was held regarding Youssouf Fofana a few weeks ago, but then he was suspended for yellow card accumulation and missed the derby. The Frenchman, as such, got the rest he needed and now it looks like the same will happen for Reijnders, even if this isn’t a forced choice.
