Marten de Roon hails a ‘huge performance’ from Atalanta to crush Juventus 4-0, while Davide Zappacosta confirms they are now fired up for the Scudetto head-to-head with Inter. ‘It’s not a fluke.’
La Dea were only three points clear of Juve going into the Allianz Juventus Stadium this evening, but have now consolidated third place and kept themselves in the title race too with a commanding 4-0 victory.
Mateo Retegui converted a penalty, then they ran riot after the restart with De Roon, Zappacosta and Ademola Lookman rounding out the scoreline.
“It was a huge performance. I was a bit angry going into the break because we hadn’t scored the second goal, but we made up for it after the break. To come here and create so many chances, I am Man of the Match, but we all could’ve won today,” De Roon told DAZN clutching his trophy from the Lega Serie A.
Next Sunday is the head-to-head with leaders Inter that could blow the Scudetto race wide open, as Atalanta want revenge for the 4-0 defeat at San Siro earlier this season.
“We are really eager, we know that we’ve got a really bad record against Inter and are also struggling at home at the moment, but this result sends a big signal to everyone. Inter remain the best side in the league, but we want to prove that we can have our say against them too,” added De Roon.
“I might ask for an extra day off now. We’re getting Monday off, but maybe Tuesday too!”

Zappacosta finished off the wonderful Atalanta team move for 3-0, running onto the Sead Kolasinac back-heel flick, to score a rare goal.
“We are very happy, as after the Champions League elimination and the home draw with Venezia, there was a bit of talk about us having lost our way, but this is a squad that proves it is aways there,” noted the wing-back on DAZN.
“Now we need to take it one game at a time. We must never stop dreaming, it is healthy and gives you that extra adrenaline. It’s not a fluke if we are still up there in March, so we will try to give our best in every match and see how it goes.”
