Dender announced on deadline day that Luton Town defender Tom Holmes is joining the club on loan until the end of the season. The former Reading FC man will provide some extra defensive reinforcements at a welcome time for the side who were just handedly beaten by Charleroi 5-0 at the weekend. The side saw two players sent off in that game, which certainly did not help.
Despite playing 20 games for Luton this season, with one goal and one assist, the side have allowed Holmes to leave until the end of the year. He joined the side last January from cash strapped Reading, but was loaned back to the Royals to end the season. This will be Homes second spell in Belgium, having played for Roeselare during the 2019/2020 campaign. The side, that do not exist in that guise anymore, were owned by Reading owner Dai Yongge before they went under. Holmes came through the Reading academy and went on to make 133 appearances for the club, scoring once.
