The alleged blasphemy case of Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez is different from that of Juventus’s Andrea Cambiaso due to a complaint by Juventus supporters.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They detail the reason for the Italian FA investigation into the Nerazzurri captain’s outburst.

Allegations of blasphemous language by Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez have made headlines in the last couple weeks.

At the heart of the matter was an outburst by the Argentine after the Derby d’Italia against Juventus.

Martinez vented his anger after that 1-0 loss to the Bianconeri. And there were some suggestions that he used blasphemous language in his verbal tirade.

That would be punishable within Italian football.

Why Lautaro Martinez Blasphemy Case Different From Cambiaso

Inter captain Lautaro Martinez has so far avoided a suspension for his outburst.

This is because the Sporting Justice was unable to find audio that would prove whether or not he uttered blasphemous language.

There are similarities to a case involving Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante last season.

Then, the Gazzetta notes, there was also a similar and parallel case with Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso.

Ironically, the alleged blasphemous language by Cambiaso happened in the reverse fixture to last month’s Derby d’Italia.

The 24-year-old appeared to use the language during a 4-4 draw between the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri.

As with the cases of Martinez and Cristante, the Sporting Justice did not find conclusive audio evidence.

However, the Italian FA did not open an investigation into Cambiaso subsequently. On the other hand, it has done with Martinez.

Therefore, Italian FA prosecutor Giuseppe Chine will consider not only lip-reading evidence, but also audio that has been located.

There would be some possibility of a one-match ban for Martinez. More likely, however, would be a fine for the Inter captain.

There is a particular reason for the Italian FA investigation, reports the Gazzetta.

After the match last month, according to the newspaper, an association of Juventus supporters filed a complaint regarding the alleged blasphemy incident.

Therefore, in response to this the Italian FA has opened the investigation into Martinez.
