Joe Jacobson has praised Charlton Athletic for their "incredible" form under Nathan Jones.
Charlton Athletic have given themselves hope of achieving automatic promotion back to the Championship this season.
The Addicks have lost just two of their last 20 games in League One - a run of form which has propelled them to fourth place in the table going into the business end of the season.
Top scorer Matty Godden ended a run of five games without a goal by scoring a brace during their 2-1 win against Wigan Athletic on Saturday, which is exactly what Nathan Jones would have wanted to see.
Charlton have kept an impressive 17 clean sheets in the third tier this season, and they have only conceded more than one goal in a league game twice since the turn of the year, so if they can continue to create chances and score goals on a consistent basis, there is no reason why their unbeaten run cannot continue.
They have also won seven home games in a row, and have not been beaten at The Valley since early December, which is the kind of home form that is key for any promotion-chasing side.
Wycombe Wanderers legend, Joe Jacobson, spoke exclusively to Football League World about Charlton's recent form under Nathan Jones, and admitted that the Chairboys will now be looking over their shoulders.
"Charlton are in incredible form under Nathan Jones," Jacobson said.
"From where they were when he came in, I do not think people really expected them to even get into the play-offs.
"I thought they may have a challenge of being in the top half, and being in and around it, but it has been amazing what they have done.
"They lost Alfie May in the summer, and if you take 25 goals out of any team in this division it is going to be a big loss. Yes, Matt Godden is now starting to hit a bit of form. It took him a little while to settle in.
"They have just got a really good, hardworking team. It is a Nathan Jones team, and they are a team where he is going to expect people to run all day, to overpower teams.
"You know they are not going to play tiki-taka football all the way from the back to the front, but they will go long, direct when they need to, and press teams with their high energy, and they are doing it really well.
"To take them to within five points of Wrexham in second place is incredible. Wycombe and Wrexham will be looking behind thinking 'Charlton are coming in', and within one gameweek they could be within two points, and then you start thinking they are right in the mix now.
"I think that result at the weekend between Wycombe and Wrexham has brought them back into the mix a little bit more."
Any team that has been on a run of form like Charlton have in recent months will feel confident about being successful, so there is no doubt that the Addicks will back themselves to go on and win promotion this season.
Just five points currently separate Jones' side from the top two, so if they can continue to pick up points at the rate that they have been, there is no reason why they cannot close that gap during the coming weeks.
The Addicks will face both Wrexham and Wycombe away from home in the weeks leading up to the final day of the season, and those games could prove to be decisive in the race for automatic promotion to the Championship.
