Fulham prospect Kristan Sekularac is of interest to the likes of Leyton Orient and Wigan Athletic, Football League World has learned

League One duo Leyton Orient and Wigan Athletic are among a number of EFL clubs looking into a late loan deal for highly-rated Fulham prospect Kristian Sekularac, Football League World understands.

The two third-tier sides have made strong use of the loan market in recent times.

Orient, who are in the hunt for a top-six finish under Richie Wellens this season, are flying in no small part due to the performances of on-loan duo Jamie Donley and Dilan Markanday from Tottenham Hotspur and Blackburn Rovers respectively.

Down in 16th place, Wigan's ambitions for the remainder of the campaign are more modest but they are still sure to hope Martial Godo's success while on loan from the Cottagers last time out can help them fight off competition for Sekularac.

With just days to go until Monday's deadline, transfer activity will inevitably intensify, with loan deals in particular. Premier League sides often run the rule and hand the green light to such dealings later in the window, which could well play out once again with Sekularac.

Sources close to FLW have exclusively confirmed the 21-year-old goalscoring midfielder is on the radars of Orient and Wigan, whom are joined by Scottish side Hibernian and a number of other clubs both in the EFL and north of the border.

Any move would be a temporary switch until the end of the season, with Sekularac held in strong regard in West London.

Former Juventus academy player Sekularac, who was born in London but has represented Switzerland at youth level, is regarded as a promising talent by Fulham and has shone for the club's under-21 side this term.

Most at home as an advanced number eight, Sekularac is known for his eye for goal and is the top scorer of any midfielder in the Premier League 2 this season with eight strikes from just 13 appearances.

The playmaker is yet to make his professional debut with Fulham but has evidently outgrown youth-team football, meaning a loan move to gain increased experience and exposure feels very much on the cards before February 3.

He could offer a big boost to Orient's promotion hopes, although Wellens would have a selection headache with Spurs loan star Donley currently shining in that attacking midfield role. Game-time could be more forthcoming at Wigan, but Orient's promotion hunt and local distance to Fulham - allowing for ample, continual progression tracking - means a deal may not prove easy for the Latics to broker.
