With Trent Alexander-Arnold about to leave Liverpool, the Premier League champions are stepping up their efforts to sign a new right-back.
Alexander-Arnold has been an outstanding servant of the club having contributed to their success in the Premier League and the Champions League.
He leaves the Merseyside club as a Premier League champion this season with his move to Real Madrid likely to be confirmed in a few weeks.
Arne Slot and his management team have started working on finding his replacement.
According to Fabrizio Romano, reporting for GiveMeSport, the Reds are pushing to sign Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong.
The player is keen on a move to Anfield and he is attracted to the Reds because of Slot’s playing style.
At Anfield, Frimpong would have a huge Dutch contingent in Virgil Van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, Ryan Gravenberch and not to forget the Reds boss.
Frimpong’s release clause remains unchanged from last summer, standing at €35 million, with an additional solidarity payment bringing the total package to approximately €40 million.
This relatively modest fee, considering Frimpong’s age and potential, has heightened interest from the Premier League side.

He has five goals and 12 assists this season for Bayer Leverkusen, a return Slot would be highly impressed with.
With the player keen on joining the Reds, it is now up to them to complete the move and push hard to complete his signing soon.
The right-back, who can also play as a right wing-back, is ready to start a new adventure in his career by moving to the Premier League and the single biggest reason behind his motivation to join the Reds is their manager.
