There has been plenty of talk about the weekend's Glasgow Derby and its result over the past 24 hours or so. At the same time, it is important to look towards the future as well. That is the only way that Celtic can improve and make sure that such defeats at the hands of the Rangers, especially at home, are avoided.

The summer transfer window will be the perfect opportunity for Celtic to strengthen their squad. And it looks like a cash windfall could be on their way in the near future.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Jeremie Frimpong can leave Bayer Leverkusen for a €40 million clause. The Dutch right-back is attracting interest from La Liga and Premier League clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.

Frimpong enjoyed his rise in senior football at Celtic. The Dutchman ended up joining Bayer Leverkusen in early 2021 and it is believed that the Hoops have a significant sell-on clause included in his deal.

To be very honest, it is surprising that Frimpong is still at Bayer Leverkusen. For years, he has been linked with teams like Liverpool, Manchester United, Real Madrid and more. But a move away from the German club has not materialised so far.

Of course, Frimpong has improved a lot over the course of his time in Germany. He is currently one of the most effective full-backs or wing-backs in world football and some of the numbers that he has put up for Xabi Alonso's side are simply extraordinary for a player of his position.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Frimpong. If he does leave Bayer Leverkusen, there is bound to be interest. And Celtic will be due a portion of the transfer fee that the German club will bring in.
