Whatever happens in the Europa League final aside, one thing is clear: Manchester United need a better striker than Rasmus Hojlund.
The Dane has four goals in 36 domestic games combined, which includes a mere four in the Premier League, and a grand total of zero in both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
He has fared a bit better in Europe, with six in the Europa League, but has only one strike to his name since the knockout stages began.
His lack of effort and backing into defenders at every opportunity has been criticised and while Ruben Amorim has continued to back him publicly, he definitely needs a better option than the 22-year-old.
INEOS have slapped a €60 million price tag on his head but they are well aware that not too many clubs will offer them such an amount given the Danish star’s dismal form.
The co-owners are reportedly open to a loan exit as well with Juventus among the teams chasing the ex-Atalanta ace’s signature. And as recently relayed by The Peoples Person, Fenerbahce have also joined the race.
Former United boss Jose Mourinho is keen to revamp the Turkish side’s attack, and has decided to let go of 39-year-old Edin Dzeko, Youssef En-Nesyri and Cenk Tosun.
Rasmus Hojlund has been earmarked as a potential option to strengthen their attack and the Istanbul-based side are ready to offer a loan deal with an option to buy.
Now, Fotomac have revealed that Fener’s sporting director Mario Branco will travel to England to hold transfer talks with the Red Devils for the Denmark international.
“Fenerbahçe, who will part ways with Edin Dzeko, wants to replace the Bosnian star with a world-famous striker. It turned out that Rasmus Hojlund, who fell short of expectations at Manchester United , is at the top of the list.
“It has been learned that Fenerbahçe sports director Branco will soon go to England and sit at the table with the Red Devils for the 22-year-old Danish center forward.”
Whether INEOS will agree to the proposal will depend on the buy option included in the deal. As for replacements, Liam Delap seems to be the preferred choice but plenty of suitors are ready to pounce.
Apart from the ex-Manchester City ace, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Antoine Semenyo have also been linked with a move to Old Trafford.
