FC Barcelona are set to play their next match in relatively uncharted territory as the Blaugrana team has already traveled to Serbia to face Red Star Belgrade in the UEFA Champions League.
Needless to say, Hansi Flick will be looking forward to getting a victory in this match to ensure his side’s presence in the next round of the competition as soon as possible.
However, this will be a particularly special match for a former Barcelona player and a current official, Bojan Krkic, as his father was born in the Balkan country and also used to play for the same team that the Catalans will be playing against tonight, Red Star Belgrade.
It is not common for Bojan to speak to the media ahead of Barcelona matches, but as Mundo Deportivo has reported, he did so yesterday, keeping in view the importance of this for him personally.
The former forward spoke about the game and also highlighted the importance of this match for him: “It will be a tough match; every Champions League game is. For me, it’s special to be here, as I didn’t have the chance to play when I was a player, and we are going to enjoy the match.”
Bojan also recalled his links to Serbia and Red Star Belgrade going through this father: “My father talked to me many times about his career and his life here. It’s an honor that my father is from Serbia and that he played for this club; it’s an honor.”
He was already excited for the match tonight: “The atmosphere will be very nice. These are the football matches we love to play, and I’m already looking forward to being here.”
Thus, this will be a particularly special match for Bojan, but all the Barcelona fans will be keen to watch this game as the team has been playing at a very high level this season, and the fans are awaiting another good performance from them.
