Forian Wirtz travelled to Liverpool for transfer talks on Tuesday | OneFootball

Kicker has now amended a report released earlier on Wednesday concerning the whereabouts of Florian Wirtz. Bayer Leverkusen correspondent Stephan van Nocks now claims the Bundesliga superstar was in Liverpool, not Manchester. Wirtz and his entourage were visiting the Premier League champions to discuss a possible Merseyside move.

Van Nocks does still confirm that concrete negotiations with Manchester City have taken place. The interest of the two wealthy EPL clubs throws quite the wrench into Bayern Munich’s plans to acquire the German phenom. Leverkusen’s reported €150m price tag isn’t necessarily out of the question for the German giants, but can more easily be met by the Premier League teams.

In any event, it appears that earlier reports suggesting that Wirtz would only entertain a move to Bayern this summer appear to be false. Van Nocks notes that several transfer experts also expect Real Madrid to enter the fray soon. Wirtz may be willing to entertain the notion of following mentor Xabi Alonso to Spanish record champions.
