Marcus Thuram suiffered his “worst game in Serie A” in yesterday’s match between Fiorentina and Inter Milan.

The player ratings for the match were unsparing towards the France international’s display, as TuttoMercatoWeb highlight.

Thuram has certainly been a signing that’s worked out for Inter on balance.

The 27-year-old arrived in the summer of 2023 on a free transfer.

And Thuram both hit the ground running as a Nerazzurri player, and has continuously improved.

This season, Thuram has been Inter’s top scorer in Serie A so far. And he is still very much in the running for top scorer in the league overall, behind just Moise Kean and Mateo Retegui.

Thuram’s combination of explosive pace and technical ability have made him a threat both behind the last line of the opposition defense and dropping deeper and running at defenders.

Moreover, this season Marcus Thuram has added more poacher’s instincts and clinical finishing to his game.

Absolutely none of that was on show against Fiorentina yesterday, however.

It was not necessarily for any lack of trying by Thuram. The Frenchman did get on the ball a fair bit, and attempted to make things happen.

However, inevitably Thuram was unable to get the better of the Fiorentina defenders.

In the penalty area, meanwhile, the former Borussia Monchengladbach striker was hardly a real presence.

For all of the good that Marcus Thuram has done since he came to Inter, none of it was evident yesterday.
