Liverpool’s summer recruitment drive is already shifting into gear, and Hugo Larsson has emerged as a serious target. According to BILD, the Reds are “already chasing” the €60 million-rated Swedish midfielder, who has caught the eye after an impressive breakthrough season with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Larsson, just 20 years old, only arrived in Germany last summer from Malmö in a €9 million deal. But in less than a year, he’s become a central figure for Frankfurt, clocking up 37 appearances across all competitions, scoring six goals and registering one assist.
“Several top clubs (including Liverpool and Tottenham) are already chasing Hugo Larsson (20). His price tag: €60 million,” BILD reported.
It’s no secret that Liverpool are planning to bolster their midfield options, and Arne Slot has already acknowledged the club’s intent. In an interview with the BBC, Slot said:
“I know people sometimes question this because they haven’t seen us doing a lot in the transfer market in the summer and now in the winter as well. There’s a reason for that – because we’re happy with the squad. But I do know we’re definitely working on strengthening in the summer.”
With Giorgi Mamardashvili due to arrive from Valencia in June, Larsson could be part of a wider reshaping of Liverpool’s spine.
Interestingly, the report also links Wataru Endo with a potential return to the Bundesliga. Frankfurt, BILD claims, are keen to sign the 32-year-old midfielder, who joined Liverpool from Stuttgart last summer for €20 million.

They’re said to admire his tactical intelligence, crisp distribution, and leadership qualities—attributes Frankfurt’s current midfield reportedly lacks. However, any move would depend on Champions League qualification and Endo accepting reduced terms.
“Eintracht values Endo’s leadership qualities, which they currently lack in midfield.”
If Liverpool move for Larsson and Frankfurt push for Endo, a mutually beneficial deal could yet emerge. At 20, Larsson fits Liverpool’s recruitment profile: technically gifted, tactically aware, and with massive upside potential.
There’s plenty to admire about Hugo Larsson. At 20, he’s already proving he can cut it in the Bundesliga, and those numbers—37 games, six goals, one assist—are solid for a central midfielder. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
Liverpool fans will be expectant, especially after a couple of windows where investment was relatively restrained. Slot has talked the talk. Now the club needs to walk it. Larsson fits the youth-focused, smart recruitment model we’ve come to know under FSG, but €60 million is still a hefty price for a player with just one season in a top-five league.
The potential Endo swap does raise eyebrows. He’s been quietly influential this season, and letting him go—especially when leadership and tactical nous are vital in transition—would be a gamble.
Larsson could be a great signing, but only if he’s one of several to arrive. We’ve been here before: one exciting youngster should not be the headline act. This summer is about depth, ambition, and delivering on promises.
