Matteo Gabbia was asked about the condition of his colleague, Fikayo Tomori, after AC Milan’s 3-1 win over Bologna last night. Much to the fans’ relief, he provided a positive update.

Tomori had to leave yesterday’s game early after receiving a pretty heavy knock to his head. First, he played on but after experiencing dizziness and a headache, he was subbed off. Malick Thiaw replaced him and while he was okay, he had some questionable moments as well.

The final against Bologna is scheduled for Wednesday evening and of course, Milan want to have Tomori available for that game. Speaking to DAZN last night, as transcribed by MilanNews, Gabbia provided a reassuring update on the situation.

How is Tomori?

“He’s better. He came out with a bad headache, I’m sure he’ll do everything to be there [the Coppa Italia final]. He’s a fighter, he’ll be there.”

It will most likely be the same back three against Bologna in the final, even if Pavlovic certainly could have done better last night. Kyle Walker came off the bench and impressed to the right in three-man defence, so perhaps that could be an option with Tomori moving to the left.
