AC Milan’s season is at risk of spiralling out of control after they lost a third straight league game on Sunday night, this time to Lazio.

In the end Lazio won the game in perhaps the most dramatic of circumstances with a 98th-minute penalty sealing a 2-1 victory and an important three points for them in the top four race.

Milan were awful in the first half and deservedly trailed, then Strahinja Pavlovic’s red card complicated things. Samuel Chukwueze headed in an equaliser with a few minutes left before the late heartbreak.

As is expected, the Italian newspapers have it clear just what a dire situation Milan have found themselves in.

La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Milan landslide. Another KO, now they are out of Europe. The Diavolo crash when down to ten men. Penalty in minute 98, Lazio fly, San Siro rage. Conceiçao under scrutiny.”

Corriere dello Sport: “It’s not Milan. Another horrible game, like the shirt. It ends 2-1, Sergio trembles. Conceiçao sinks, Lazio go fourth. Baroni’s team dominates. Zaccagni breaks the deadlock, and Pavlovic sees red. Electric end to the game: Chukwueze equaliser at 84′, decisive Pedro penalty at 98′.”

Tuttosport: “Crazy, desperate and furious Milan. Manganiello on VAR review punishes the Maignan-Isaksen contact after Pavlovic’s red card and Chukwueze’s incredible reply to Zaccagni. San Siro protests against everyone and everything. Conceiçao, becoming increasingly desperate, can go -11 from the fourth spot.”

QS: “Diavolo, now it’s hell. Milan whistled and down to ten men, Lazio goes through in injury time.”
