Sheffield United have been told to make a move for Wolves' Tommy Doyle, whether they win promotion or not.

Sheffield United have been told to do all they can to bring Tommy Doyle back to the club in the summer, regardless of whether they win promotion or not.
The 23-year-old joined Wanderers in the summer of 2023 from Man City, and he has gone on to make over 50 appearances in Old Gold.
However, Doyle has fallen out of favour under Vitor Pereira, to the extent that he didn’t even make the matchday squad as Wolves made it six wins on the bounce against Leicester City on Saturday.
Therefore, a summer move seems likely, with Pereira confirming he will hold talks with Doyle about his future when the campaign is over.
And, recent reports have suggested that Sheffield United are among a host of clubs who are tracking the former England under-21 international.
Of course, the Blades are still pushing for promotion this season, so their recruitment will depend on which league they are playing in.
But, when asked by FLW about a potential move for Doyle, fan pundit Jimmy, of the Blades Ramble YouTube channel, made it clear that the midfielder could have a big role to play in either of the top two tiers for Sheffield United.
“He would be a brilliant signing," Jimmy told FLW.
He has Premier League experience with Wolves, and he’s the sort of player who is more than proven at Championship level but has something to prove in the Premier League.
“Certainly, if we’re in the Championship, we should push the boat out to sign Doyle, whether that’s on loan or a permanent, I’m not sure what we’d be able to do.
“I fully expect that if we remain in the Championship that we will lose Vini Souza and potentially Gus Hamer, so we will need reinforcements, and experienced reinforcements. I know Doyle is a young lad, but he was former youth team captain at Man City, he has a lot of games under his belt, and he would help out the likes of Ollie Arblaster and Sydie Peck.
“I also think he’d be a really strong squad member if we were in the Premier League. So, yes, huge fan of Doyle, great memories of him in a red-and-white shirt. Get him back to the Lane if it’s at all possible.”
This is a signing that would appear to make sense all round.
Firstly, Doyle needs to be playing. He is unfortunate that Wolves boast two Brazilian internationals in midfield, with Andre and Joao Gomes, so he isn’t going to get in the XI.
Pereira prefers more physicality from his midfield men, so Doyle isn’t in his plans, which is just one of those things in football, but Doyle needs to move.
Meanwhile, as outlined above, Doyle could bring plenty of quality to the Sheffield United midfield, and his ability to pick a pass from deeper positions and how he can control a game would offer the side another threat.
