Gianluigi Donnarumma’s (25) future at Paris Saint-Germain has looked up in the air for some time. The arrival of Matvei Safonov had looked to threaten his position as the uncontested No.1, and in certain matches this season, including in the UEFA Champions League, the Russian has featured in his place. Sports Zone also understands that a move for Lille OSC’s Lucas Chevalier is in the works.
It is within this context, one in which Donnarumma’s position in the starting XI has been called into question, that the Italian’s agent cast further doubt over his future at PSG. “His future at PSG? We are in a period of reflection. We will see. Anything can happen. Now we are on standby in contract talks,” his agent, Enzo Raiola, said last month.
However, in a post-match interview with Sky Italia, in the wake of Les Parisiens’ 4-2 win over Manchester City, Donnarumma sought to clarify his intentions. “There are so many rumours. The truth is that I feel good here and that everyone likes me and holds me in esteem. I am feeling very good, settled and my priority is to extend (my contract) here,” said the Italy No.1.
Donnarumma’s current deal with the reigning Ligue 1 champions runs until the summer of 2026. He wants to stay, now it is a question of whether PSG themselves wish to retain him beyond his current deal.
