Girelli: Last year's Cup exit adds to our hunger | OneFootball

The Juventus Women’s First Team are back in action this midweek, with the first leg of their Italian Cup quarter-final taking them to the capital to face Lazio on Wednesday. Kick-off is locked in for 18:00 CET.

Ahead of the trip to Rome, forward Cristiana Girelli previewed the game.

“Lazio have definitely picked up fewer points than they’ve deserved from their performances this season, judging them on their games against us” Girelli said. “We only managed to beat them by a single goal on both occasions, and both winners came late on.

“They’re a well-organised team that play with intensity and they have quality too, we know how much they’ve put us in difficulty already.

“We’ll go to Rome knowing that, because of their league position, they’ll be really targeting the Cup and we’re also giving it a lot of value because of our elimination last season. That semi-final knockout still stings because it meant we couldn’t play in the Super Cup this year as well. Of course we think about one game at a time, so for now we’re focused on the game against Lazio. We know that the tie will be settled in 180, and not 90, minutes, but we want to put in a good performance in the first leg.”
