The Canaries have already brought in Lewis Dobbin on loan and have secured a permanent deal for Anis Ben Slimane.

Ashley Barnes and Christian Fassnacht have departed as well, shaking up Johannes Hoff Thorup’s squad midway through the campaign.

But that might not be the end of the Canaries’ January business, with the market open until 3 February.

When asked about which player he feels would be keen on a January exit, FLW’s Norwich fan pundit Zeke Downes pinpointed Grant Hanley.

He believes the defender will be seeking greater game time elsewhere, having only made three appearances in the Championship so far this season.

“I think there are a couple of players in the squad that would like to be leaving in the January window, be that on loan or on a permanent,” Downes told Football League World.

“I think the main one would be Hanley because he’s obviously at an age where he wants to be playing.

“He’s not played very much at all for the last few years, down to obviously injuries or not being fancied by the manager.

“He’s near the end of his career, but he’s got a lot of experience, and clubs in the Championship would be wanting him, so I can see that one probably happening on a permanent.

“So I think he is the main one, there are other ones like [Tony] Springett will definitely want to be leaving on a permanent, he isn’t going to be in our plans at all, and [Brad] Hills I reckon a loan.

“With Hanley gone, I think Hills can start to push his way into the squad.”

It has been reported by Alan Nixon that Birmingham City are eyeing a possible move for Hanley.

Grant Hanley exit is on the cards this January

Hanley departing Norwich is definitely on the cards this month given how little he’s played this year.

The Canaries have moved on from the 33-year-old, who is entering the final stages of his career.

Fitness issues have also been a concern, so now is as good a time as any to cash in on the Scot as they’ll get.
