Al Shabab were the major winners in the Roshn Saudi League awards for February, with Cristian Guanca named Player of the Month and Musab Al Juwayr once more collecting the prize for best young player.

Guanca, who last summer returned to his parent club following a few seasons spent on loan, enjoyed a February to remember in which he scored four goals and registered five assists as Al Shabab continue to chase a top-four spot.

In fact, Guanca’s fourth goal came on Friday night after he was handed the Player of the Month trophy before his side’s 2-0 win at Damac, when he curled home an excellent free-kick in the second half in Riyadh to give the hosts the lead.

The Argentine later recorded his fifth assist of the month for Mohammed Al Shwirekh to head into the back of the net from his 83rd-minute corner.

Guanca was presented with the award alongside Al Juwayr, who continues his stranglehold on Young Player of the Month. The Saudi Arabian international, 21, made it five on the bounce as he sustained his impressive performances for Al Shabab throughout February.

Meanwhile, Al Ittihad manager Laurent Blanc was named Manager of the Month following an unbeaten February in which the Jeddah giants won four of five matches to return to the top of the RSL.

The highlight result of that run came in Matchweek 21, when Al Ittihad defeated title rivals, and current champions, Al Hilal 4-1 in the Saudi Clasico.

Completing the February honour list, Al Fayha’s Orlando Mosquera was recognised for his contribution to his club's cause by being awarded Goalkeeper of the Month.

The Panama stopper concluded the month with three consecutive clean sheets as Al Fayha maintained their position of relative safety above the relegation zone. They are currently 14th.
