Hansi Flick on which Barcelona star he would ‘always want in my team’ | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick produced an interesting response, after being asked which member of his Blaugrana squad he would want at his disposal in any team.

The player selected by the German? Iñigo Martínez.

Defender Iñigo is of course in the midst of what has been nothing short of a brilliant individual campaign to date.

Having last season consistently seen his readiness to make the step up to a top club called into question, the 33-year-old has since gone on to put any such concerns firmly to bed.

Alongside defensive partner Pau Cubarsí, Iñigo has been nothing short of a rock in Barca’s backline, one of the first names on the team sheet of boss Hansi Flick.

Defensive excellence aside, the former Athletic Club man has also excelled on the ball, with his passing having been of the highest standard.

And yet, it was another of Iñigo’s traits which his manager quickly highlighted, when asked during his latest press conference ‘who is a player that you would always want for your team?’

“I don’t think I can choose one player,” Flick began. “But Iñigo is a fantastic leader. His mentality is vital.”
