Maghnes Akliouche (22) has not yet received a call-up to the France national team, however, having shone with Les Bleuets in the Olympics at the summer and now performing at a consistently high level for formative club AS Monaco, the calls for Didier Deschamps to give the playmaker his first cap are multiplying.
Akliouche has five goals and six assists in 29 appearances in all competitions this season and, in an exclusive interview with Get French Football News, the Principality club’s manager, Adi Hütter, backed his player to break into the international set-up.
“You can see Maghnes, this season, he has never been under average. Last season, there were waves but this season, he is consistent in his performance,” began Hütter.
He added, “France have so many players on a top level but for me, I cannot see another player that has the same skills as Maghnes Aklliouche. He is a totally different player to France’s other players. It is their decision what they do with him. He showed us in big games too. He is brave, always dribbling, always has an idea. When I saw him one-and-a-half years ago in the duel… he wasn’t strong enough, he has developed and adapted a lot.”
Akliouche is expected to depart Monaco at the end of the season. Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain were interested in signing the Frenchman last summer.
