A huge European quarter-final under the lights at Old Trafford tonight

Manchester United are out to keep their season alive when they host Lyon in the Europa League quarter-final second leg tonight.

After losing 4-1 to Newcastle at the weekend, Man Utd sit 14th in the Premier League table. With just six games left to play they are set to amass their least ever points tally in the competition.

That coupled with early FA Cup and Carabao Cup exits means the only way to salvage a poor campaign is by lifting the Europa League trophy in May which would come with the additional bonus of Champions League qualification.

The quarter-final tie is finely poised following a 2-2 draw in France last week in a fixture that will long be remembered for a pre-match spat involving Andre Onana and Nemanja Matic.

Matic hit back at Onana’s claim United were “way better” than Lyon, by labelling him as the “worst keeper in the club’s history”, to which the Cameroon international replied by pointing out his trophy haul with the the Red Devils in comparison to the experienced midfielder.

However, Onana’s repost would end up backfiring in spectacular fashion as it was his two costly mistakes that cost Man Utd a first leg victory which sets up an intriguing clash at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’.
