Andrey Santos is set for a key role at Chelsea next season and he’s named two current Premier League stars as his idols.

The Blues paid around £13m to sign Santos from Brazilian side Vasco da Gama in January 2023, although he’s yet to make a competitive appearance for the club.

There were some reports stating Santos could be part of Enzo Maresca’s squad this season, but the decision was taken to send him to sister club Strasbourg for the season.

Ironically given Chelsea’s injury issues in midfield, particularly with Romeo Lavia, Santos likely would have got regular minutes this season.

However, he’s excelling at Strasbourg who are sixth in Ligue 1 and four points behind Monaco in second, with Champions League qualification a real possibility.

Despite being a loanee the 20-year-old has captained Strasbourg this season, which is testament to the type of character he is.

Santos has put in a series of impressive performances for Strasbourg this season.

Santos has insisted he’s ready for Chelsea next season, and he’s revealed which two current Premier League stars are his idols.

I love Bruno Guimaraes, I love watching him play because we are very similar, but I also like Casemiro,” he told Di Marzio.

“True, I’ve already scored ten goals, nine in Ligue 1 and one in the French Cup.

“Scoring goals makes me happy and now I’m working to score even more. My secret? God and hard work. I’m very religious and evangelical, like Bobby Firmino.”

Santos’ performances haven’t gone unnoticed and he’s attracting interest from some of Europe’s top clubs including Bayern Munich, but it’s believed Chelsea’s stance is that he’s not for sale.

Santos won’t be the only midfielder arriving at Stamford Bridge this summer, with Sporting Lisbon’s Dario Essugo arriving, with the Blues agreeing a deal for the 20-year-old last month, and he could make his debut at the Club World Cup this summer.
