Inter Milan must navigate injuries, a Supercoppa Italiana hangover, and the Davide Frattesi transfer saga ahead of facing Venezia.

Today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, highlight the treacherous week that the Nerazzurri have had leading up to today’s match.

Inter take on Venezia in Serie A this evening.

On paper, it should not be one of the harder matches that the Nerazzurri face this season.

Venezia are a newly-promoted team. They find themselves scrapping to avoid relegation straight back to Serie B.

However, that underlines just how much motivation the Lagunari will have to avoid defeat this evening.

Moreover, the last time that these two teams met, it ended in a narrow 1-0 win for Inter. Hardly an emphatic victory.

And then, there is the fact that this time around, Inter face Venezia at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo in Venice.

But Tuttosport note that the toughest challenges for Inter this evening could come from within.

For one thing, Inter are navigating a full-blown injury crisis.

Benjamin Pavard is back in the squad after more than a month out, though not ready to start.

Francesco Acerbi, on the other hand, is still absent. And the likes of Hakan Calhanoglu, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Yann Bisseck have all joined him.

Then, there will be the matter of shaking of the Supercoppa Italiana hangover for Inter.

Returning to Serie A after the exertions of the Supercoppa was never going to be easy for the Nerazzurri on a physical level.

But it could be even tougher emotionally and psychologically. That’s because of the manner in which Inter squandered a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 to city rivals AC Milan in the final.

That will require a quick mental rebound to regain confidence that has been lost.

And, as if that weren’t enough, there is the unwelcome distraction of a transfer saga.

Inter had expected to have a very quiet January transfer window. However, that was before midfielder Davide Frattesi began pushing for an exit.

The 25-year-old is reportedly unhappy with his playing time and wants a change of scenery.

This is one more stumbling block for the team to navigate, and a potential source of tension with coach Simone Inzaghi.

Shaking off all of these problems to get a routine win over Venezia could be easier said than done for Inter.
