Iran international Mehdi Taremi finally showed glimpses of his quality in last night’s epic game between Inter Milan and Barcelona.

Speaking to InterTV via FCInterNews, the ex-Porto striker discussed one of the most fantastic meetings in Champions League history.

A sold-out San Siro was in for a treat as Inter and Barcelona engaged in a gladiatorial battle, with the Nerazzurri coming out on top.

Indeed, it was a sight to behold.

The reigning Serie A champions put their fans through an emotional rollercoaster.

Despite leading 2-0 at the break, Inter nearly lost the game as Barcelona went 3-2 up in the 87th minute.

However, Francesco Acerbi came to Inter’s rescue in second-half stoppages before Davide Frattesi sealed the victory.

Meanwhile, Taremi joined the fray off the bench midway through the second half to replace Lautaro Martinez.

Though the Iranian’s form this season has been far from promising, he shrugged off the pressure and impressed last night.

His assist for Frattesi tipped the scales in Inter’s favor.

“It was an incredible emotion for all of us,” the Iranian striker began. “We approached the game well and played well from the start.

“And of course, we have great respect for Barcelona, as they are a great club.

“Of course, it was an amazing experience.

“Every player dreams of playing in a Champions League semi-final, especially against a team like Barcelona. They have fantastic players.”

Asked whether he expected Inter to get this far in the competition, Taremi replied: “Yes, absolutely.

“When I arrived, I immediately saw a group, a great family, a united and strong team.

“Our goal has always been to reach the Champions League final from the very beginning.”

Taremi’s wish will come true when Inter lock horns with Arsenal or Paris Saint-Germain in the showpiece event later in May.
