After enjoying an excellent season, Inter Milan appear to be losing steam at the worst time possible.
The Italian giants are coming on the back of a three-game losing streak, which saw them give up the opportunity to seal a potential treble this season.
Inter Milan’s three defeats have coincided with the absence of star attacker Marcus Thuram, who has complemented striker Lautaro Martinez all throughout the campaign.
This past weekend, it was reported that the French international might miss the Barcelona clash as well, owing to his injury. But recent reports suggest otherwise.
However, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, there is growing optimism at Inter Milan regarding Marcus Thuram’s availability for Wednesday night’s UEFA Champions League first-leg semi-final tie against Barcelona.
Thuram has scored 17 goals in 44 appearances this season. His strength and dynamism in the final third have been a key reason behind Inter’s success going forward.

As mentioned earlier, his absence was immediately felt, as Simone Inzaghi’s men went on to lose crucial matches against Bologna, Roma, and AC Milan in the Coppa Italia.
However, Monday’s training session has brought good news for Inter fans. Thuram trained individually but showed encouraging signs of recovery, maintaining a good pace and stamina.
It is now expected that he will rejoin full training with the group on Tuesday, raising hopes that he could feature against Barcelona.
That said, it must be noted that Inter Milan might still not be able to take any risk with Thuram’s fitness, knowing they cannot afford to aggravate his injury.
Therefore, it will be interesting to see whether or not Inzaghi, who is not afraid of facing Barcelona this week, opts to rush the Frenchman back into action.
